Restaurant: LAVO New York

After much anticipation, I finally got a chance to have dinner at LAVO New York. The italian restaurant and nightclub seems to be a magnet for midtown workers, and I can’t blame them.

If you  get a chance to visit,  I  recommend  the one-pound meatball with ricotta (serves 4!),  the  baked clams, the  lobster scampi  pizza and  the fried oreos (comes  with a milkshake…enough said). Just don’t plan on making it down to the nightclub after that meal.

Are there any restaurants in the city you’re dying to try?

Social Media Week in NYC

Last night, MA and I attended the opening ceremony of Social Media Week  (SMW)  at the New York Public Library. For background, SMW  is a biannual global conference meant to bring thousands together to discuss  the role of social media in today’s society. This winter,  the conference  is being held February 7-11  with seminars  in  9 different  cities.

As the digital PR revolution continues, no one wants to be left behind. To get involved, you can visit socialmediaweek.org  or follow @socialmediaweek  on Twitter. Is SMW something you would get involved in?

Warm Woolen Mittens

It’s easy to get a case of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) in New York City – it seems like you wake up in the dark, go home in the dark, and go days without seeing some sunshine.   But if you try, you can find little pieces  of  winter that make you happy, like warm mittens and hot cocoa in the snow.

I like to try to play up my outdoor fashion to keep winter interesting.   Different scarves, coats, even hats and gloves.   It’s always fun to see how other New Yorkers bear the winter weather while staying stylish.

Ecco Domani “Decade of Style” Benefit

So this is really cool – Ecco  Domani Wines celebrated the 10th anniversary  of its  Fashion Foundation last night in support of  new and emerging fashion designers. Seven designers are chosen each year to receive a grant of $25,000  and create a collection  shown during New York Fashion Week (what a dream!?). Past winners include Zac  Posen, Rag & Bone, Proenza  Schouler,  Erin Fetherston, Alexander Wang and Derek Lam to name a few.

The  benefit held at the Bowery Hotel was nothing short of uplifting as it was great seeing designers given  such an amazing  opportunity. Hosted by Robert Verdi, winners new and old (plus their designs) were in attendance to show their support.  So here’s to a “Decade of Style” and hoping the 2011  designers shine like past winners.
