Giveaway: Emi-Jay + Splendid

To add a little flair to your arm or pep to your ponytail, we love turning to the cute hair ties from Emi-Jay.  When we heard they were partnering with Spendid, one of our favorite brands of tees and tanks, we knew we had to get our hands on some.  For the new year, Emi-Jay was sweet enough to offer one of our readers their exclusive Splendid collection of four three-packs of the ties.

New Year’s Eve Attire

New Year’s Eve is right around the corner and if you haven’t already, it’s definitely time to start thinking about what you plan on doing so you can figure out what to wear! We turned to our dear friend at Vanilla Extract who outlined exactly what to wear for each occasion. Relaxed sounds just about right to me…

nye-looks-ve

Fancy: dress / polish / heels / clutch / petals / spanx
Chill: jeans / blouse / polish / lipstick / heels / purse / ring
Relaxed: pjs / polish / slippers

Wow, what a year it has been! It’s hard to believe that NYE is right around the corner when it feels like I just rang in 2012. And again, the two tough questions are back: 1) What are we doing? 2) What am I wearing?

There’s really only three scenarios. You’re either going to a fancy event or dinner, hanging at a local bar or house party, OR you’re poppin’ champagne in the comfort of your own home. And there’s nothing wrong with the third option because as of right now, that’s exactly what we’re doing.

So, what are you doing, and what are you wearing for New Year’s Eve?!

Xo,
Nichole

Holiday Unwind

I have to say, this is my first day working after Christmas and it feels odd. The office is dead, which is disturbing yet relaxing at the same time since I can catch up on my 200+ emails from the past week. Any PR professional knows it’s not hard to find work to do when there’s little to do. Here’s what’s on my list this week.

empty office

  • Monitoring – get all of your charting done before the New Year
  • Google Alerts – sort through them and delete those you don’t need
  • Blog Catch-up – my favorite, look at recent post from your favorite and most relevant blogs
  • Year End Report – most clients have these, get started now!
  • Research – whether it’s for a spokesperson or event space, this is time consuming so great for downtime
  • 2013 Planning – there’s plenty of this to get started on
  • New Years Pitching – though it may be a little late, New Years coverage lasts through January

It can be hard to unwind from the holidays! What’s on your list of to do’s this week?

Jules Reid Giveaway

One of my favorite shows for fashion inspiration is Mad Men.  Really any kind of inspiration.  I think the show keeps you on your toes and lends to some amazing creativity.  So when Jules Reid asked if we could do a holiday giveaway with their classic McPherson dress, I practically jumped for joy.  This is they quintessential Betty Draper dress, and I love the bold print and slimming silhouette.  It feels a little like you’re playing dress up, but in the most sophisticated, Pinterest-y way possible.
