A little personal information about me: I have spent the better part of my life dancing ballet. I had to stop dancing once I started my internships my junior year of college, but the time came far too soon. If you’ve had a passion that you had to give up for “real life” you can relate – I miss ballet every single day. That’s why I was so incredibly pumped when A told me she wanted to see New York City Ballet‘s Swan Lake.
Yes, A was a bit more enticed by the film Black Swan than perhaps the choreography, but we both had a beautiful time. Ashley Bouder made a gorgeous Odette and a seductive Odile, but really the entire ballet was stunning. It’s a sin I haven’t been to more ballets in my time living here, but after last night I can promise you that I will be attending many more performances in the future. One of the many great things about NYC: you have incredible access to world-renowned arts. The cost of the attending this breathtaking performance? A cool $25.
