When Adrianna and I were starting nyc PR girls, one of the blogs we looked up to was PR Couture. Crosby Noricks, founder of PR Couture, speaks eloquently and clearly on the roller coaster that is Fashion PR. Her advice is always relevant and she speaks to the up-and-coming PR girl and boy as if she was your own publicist mentor.
Well if there is anything better than a great PR blog, it’s a great PR book. Recently, Crosby introduced Ready to Launch: The PR Couture Guide to Breaking into Fashion PR. Within its pages, Ready to Launch gives a full account of the passion, drive and experience needed to break into public relations in the fashion space. Crosby also goes into detail on what you don’t learn in school, giving much needed advice on the steps you should take to secure your first job or internship. Ready to Launch gives insight into everything from the definition of public relations to starting your own agency. In the back of the book, there is even a list of public relations resources for further education (including, ahem, yours truly!).
A and I love Crosby’s honest voice and kind-hearted direction. We both agree that you need all the help you can get while getting into public relations, and Ready to Launch is a must-read while trying to navigate the fashion industry. You can tell that Crosby does want everyone to succeed, as well as be prepared for the craziness that is the PR world.
You can buy Crosby’s book on Amazon.com here. If you’ve read Ready to Launch and loved it, be sure to tweet at @nycPRgirls or @pr_couture and tell us what you think!

I purchased this book from Amazon as well and it was all the motivated I needed to really begin to pursue my dream career in PR. I’ve always been a PR girl at heart but never found the courage to apply for a job (not an internship) because of all the horror stories I’ve heard.
I read the book in about a day, great tips! Crosby is very kid to share her tips and experiences with us all. The photo in this post is my instagram photo from when it arrived from amazon.
I got the book when it came out & read it in one sitting. It has so much valuable information!
Hi Maggie,
That’s great to hear! It’s not all bad, promise! And if it’s bad, it’s not the right job. xo
